The easiest way to check if your leisure battery is fully charged is by checking the battery voltage or using a battery monitor.
Checking Battery Voltage
A 12V leisure battery will show different voltages depending on its state of charge. The readings below are typical when the battery is at rest (not charging or powering appliances).
| Battery Type | Fully Charged | Around 50% Charge |
|---|---|---|
| Wet Lead / AGM / Gel | ~12.6–12.8V | ~12.2V |
| Lithium (LiFePO4) | ~13.4–13.6V | ~13.0–13.2V |
For lead-acid batteries, anything below around 12.0V is generally considered discharged and the battery should be recharged as soon as possible to help protect its lifespan.
For the most accurate reading, check the battery after charging has stopped and the battery has rested, as voltage readings can appear higher while the battery is actively charging.
