It is important to understand the difference between a starter battery and a leisure battery, as they are designed for very different purposes.
A vehicle starter battery:
- Is designed to deliver a large burst of current for a short period of time in order to start the engine. Once the engine is running, the alternator immediately recharges the battery.
Leisure batteries:
- They provide a steady supply of power over longer periods, allowing onboard equipment to run when the engine is not running or when the vehicle is not connected to mains power.
